You may now bring your paint to the Rooney Road Recycling Center for free!
As of July 1, 2015, all paint sold in Colorado contains a surcharge to pay for used paint recycling. The program is managed by PaintCare (http://www.paintcare.org/paintcare-states/colorado/). The Rooney Road Recycling Center is a drop-off location for the PaintCare Program.
Is a copay required for paint?
If only architectural paint products are brought to the Center, a co-pay is not required.
Paint falling under this program must meet all of the following requirements:
- Paint must be in its original container, with an original label.
- Paint must have a secured lid.
- Paint must be in containers no larger than 5-gallons.
What is considered an architectural paint product?
House paint, primers, stains, sealers, and clear coatings (e.g., shellac and varnish). For a full list of products, go to http://www.paintcare.org/wp-content/uploads/docs/xx-program-products-list.pdf.
What is NOT included?
PaintCare does not accept aerosols (spray cans), solvents, and products intended for industrial or non-architectural use.
Will the Rooney Road Recycling Center take products not included under the PaintCare Program?
Yes, however a co-pay is required.
